Will Your Wireless Microphones Work After February 17th?
As you've probably heard, on February 17, 2009 all full-power broadcast television stations in the United States will stop broadcasting on analog airwaves and begin broadcasting only in digital. This massive "digital transition" has been heavily advertised for many months.
Did you know it may also effect your wireless microphone and musician monitoring systems?
On February 17, 2009 all full power analog TV transmission are scheduled to cease. Digital TV broadcasts will be consolidated below channels 52. Channels 52-69 (698 - 806 MHz), generically called the 700MHz band, will be reallocated to public emergency broadcast and telecom companies. The FCC will prohibit the use of wireless microphones in this range in the near future, perhaps as early as February. Chances are, you may already be experiencing problems.
